The Department of Oral Implantology of ZJUSS is one of the earliest departments which provide public service in the field of implant dentistry in China. It is a professional department with specialty in oral implantology clinical practice and related research.
Compared to traditional oral restoration, dental implants enjoy better mechanical property, implant stability, chewing efficiency and aesthetic performance. Since 1985, the department has taken the lead domestically in oral bone augmentation surgery. Alveolar bone augmentation techniques now become routine treatments in our department, including guided bone regeneration(GBR),maxillary sinus lifting and onlay bone graft augmentation.
In 2012, our department first performed immediate implant and immediate prosthesis in the anterior region in Zhejiang. The immediate implant and immediate restoration work in reducing early bone resorption, which is of great benefit to patients to obtain better results in esthetics. In 2013, the department first applied digital surgical guide on the immediate loading implant restoration of edentulous jaws. This edentulous implant repair technique can be achieved by implanting four or six implants.
Over the past ten years, the department has completed more than 30,000 cases of dental implant restoration under various conditions, and the implant survival rate in these ten years is up to 98%, which is far higher than the international standard of dental implant survival rate.
With a reasonable age hierarchy, knowledgeable faculties in the department never cease to forge ahead and strive for excellence. Currently, the department has strong technical strength. All dental surgeons in the department have received systematic training for dental implant abroad in either Germany, Switzerland, the United States or other countries. The department owns Doctoral and Master's Academic Degree-Granting Disciplines, with undergraduates, postgraduate students and visiting doctors enrolled.
The Department of Oral Implantology is making great efforts in clinical, didactic and research areas to approach the first-rate discipline domestically.
