Established in the 1990s, the Department of Orthodontics of ZJUSS employs an integration model of teaching, clinical care, and research. As one of the most influential medical centers for dental maxillofacial deformity in Zhejiang province, there are 32 medical staff in the department, including two Chief Physicians, three Deputy Chief Physicians, ten Attending Physicians and three Resident Physicians. All the physicians graduate from renowned medical schools, among whom there are twelve Ph.Ds and six masters. Treatments that can be carried out in the department include early orthodontic treatment, orthodontic treatment, clear aligner treatment, digital lingual treatment, orthodontic-orthognathic surgery combined treatment, orthodontic treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate, orthodontic treatment of patients with temporomandibular joint disease, orthodontic-periodontic combined treatment, orthodontic-prosthodontic combined treatment, and orthodontic treatment of OSAHS.

As the Zhejiang Orthodontic Center, the department has undertaken the training tasks for undergraduates, postgraduates, residents as well as advanced training doctors, and has cultivated many great qualified orthodontic specialists for Zhejiang and China. A number of physicians in the department have won prizes in various national clinical case competitions successively. The department demonstrates favorable scientific strength. More than ten scientific research projects have been funded and several academic articles have been published in recent years.
